10 Rules for my studio - The power of workplace rules
In this video I share the 10 Rules I have for my home studio that help me to be more productive and effective.
In this article, and video, I share 10 rules I have for working in my own studio. The rules are designed to look after the space, be productive and ensure I don't squander the space.
I'm a big fan of agreed upon rules for the workplace also. Of course, we have unwritten rules, norms and expectations, but there is something helpful about calling out specific rules.
In this video I share my 10 rules for the Studio. The rules, some of which overlap, are designed to respect the property, get more done, enjoy life and avoid the smell of fish. Yes, you read that right.
In the video I share details about the studio space and why I have separate spaces to do certain work. I also share the cleaning routine to stay on top of the space - and why a clean and tidy workspace is essential to getting things done (at least for me).
These rules are yet to be turned into a poster and stuck on my wall, but I do have them on a sheet of paper next to my desk.
Rule 1 - Treat the building with respect
Rule 2 - Keep the space clean
Rule 3 - No shoes in the studio
Rule 4 - Organise the space around outcomes
Rule 5 - Do not squander the space
Rule 6 - Don't get distracted
Rule 7 - Everything goes back in its place
Rule 8 - It's not all about work
Rule 9 - Keep evolving the space
Rule 10 - No fish in the studio
This video was inspired by Tom Sach's wonderful 10 bullets video and zine. There really is power in having some rules to make the most of spaces, work and life.
What are your rules?
And yes, don't microwave fish.
