A day in the life of....me
In this video I show you a day in the life of a creative soul in a corporate role.
One question I get asked often is how I'm able to create so much, whilst holding down a full time consulting gig with a family.
Well, it's been trial and error and a constant tension between the pillars of life. And right now, I am consciously aware that my pillar of health is crumbling. But, I have a plan to address that.....although I've yet to implement it.
Watch the video - all done through stop motion. More text below.
Well, instead of writing about it, I thought I'd do a video of my day instead.
I find pockets of time for creativity. It's rare I get any long stretches of time to create, so instead I grab 45 minutes in a morning - and 45 minutes over lunch, giving me the rest of the day to work and do family stuff.
In truth, I should be dedicating one of those 45 minute slots to wellbeing and fitness - and that's my plan. But I'm mid creative project at the moment (The Zero to Keynote book), and hence it's pulled me towards my productivity pillar and away from my health pillar. But I will correct this tension. Being aware of the tension is the key, then doing something about it.
So, as I show in this video, I average around 1.5 hours of creative work per day, 8 hours of "work" work and the rest is family time and other commitments.
Also - I thought I would experiment with stop motion animation - and so this entire video is a series of photographs stuck together; 1600 in total....
How do you balance the pillars of life - and explore your hobbies and interests?
